Approved classification of scientific journals

Based on the committee’s role in supporting distinguished scientific publishing, the committee approved the following classification of scientific journals:

Consider the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) as a first choice for its clarity, interdisciplinary and comprehensive classification

Then Scopus Databases, in addition, the use of Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by the Web of Science (ISI) as a supplementary option in case the journal is not included in the SJR or Scopus rating or the option that gives a better rating as an encouragement and motivation for the faculty member publisher


Criteria required in Arab scientific journals if they are not classified in ISI - SJR:

1. To be issued by a recognized scientific authority (universities - institutes - research centers, scientific societies - publishing houses with a good scientific reputation).

2. To have an arbitration system that is subject to clear standards and procedures.

3. The scientific journal should have an International Standard- (ISSN) number for the hard copy and another for the electronic version

4. To have an editorial board, and they are required to be academic specialists with experience in the field of academic publishing, with their academic rank not less than an associate professor.

5. To have (if possible) an advisory body scientific body of trusts.

6. To have a website in which the issues issued by it are presented and it contains all the information in which the editorial rules are explained, and how to write papers, the methods of presenting them, the mechanism for reviewing and judging them, and the steps for accepting research and publishing.

7. That the journal be listed on the DOAJ website

8. That the magazine should have regular issues issued by it within at least two years.

9. The journal should be in the field of specialization of the researcher applying for arbitration and publishing it.

10. That the journal be committed to the ethics of scientific publishing.
