Q: Do you have an outreach initiative?
A: Yes! Our outreach initiative is called STEAMrollin'
Q: What is the mission behind your outreach?
A: Our mission with STEAMrollin' is to spread STEAM education and opportunities to the underserved youth in our county with activities revolving around structural integrity, electrical currents, open/closed circuits, velocity, and density. This allows them to learn about basic STEAM concepts in a fun and engaging way, while also presenting them with tangible challenges they can overcome
Q: Who do you partner with for your outreach?
A: We partner with several members of our community such as Rutherford County Schools and local nonprofits such as the Grahamtown Team, ReachingROCO, and Blue Ridge Hope to provide positive STEAM experiences to the youth in our community
Q: How has your outreach been implemented?
A: We've participated in a variety of community events such as adopting a local community, through this endeavor we have served in various capacities including the following:
We have helped feed this community during the holidays.
We have helped host a healthy cooking session for the youth.
We have coordinated and led three STEAM camps for local youth.
We volunteer at the annual Kinderpalooza, engaging rising kindergarten students in STEAM activities.
We volunteer at the Isobots FLL competition.
We designed and hosted the first annual bootcamp for FLL coaches and team members.
We also serve over six hundred middle school students at three middle schools, and five thousand elementary students by bringing hands-on STEAM activities into their schools.
