dynamic stretching - active movements where joints and muscles go through a full range of motion. They can be used to help warm up your body before exercising.
static stretching - is done at the end of your workout, and involves stretches that you hold in place for a period of time (10-45 seconds) without movement. This allows your muscles to loosen up, while increasing flexibility, range of motion and allows your muscles to recover.
integrity - Integrity means following your moral or ethical convictions and doing the right thing in all circumstances, even if no one is watching you. Having integrity means you are true to yourself and would do nothing that demeans or dishonors you.
musculoskeletal fitness -a multidimensional construct comprising the integrated function of muscle strength, muscle endurance, and muscle power to enable the performance of work against one's own body weight or an external resistance.
muscular strength - The ability of muscles to exert maximal force in a single effort/contraction.
muscular endurance - the ability to sustain, or repeat muscular activity, over time.
flexibility - describes the range of motion of muscles at the joint.
body composition - describes what part of total body weight is fat, and what part is fat free. The relative percentage of muscles, fat, bone and other tissues that comprise the body.
aerobic capacity - estimate of VO² max (also known as maximal oxygen uptake). VO² max reflects the maximum rate that the respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular systems can take in, transport, and use oxygen during exercise.
healthy fitness zone - Standards established by The Cooper Institute that represent levels of fitness that offer some degree of protection against diseases that can result from sedentary living. These standards are organized by gender and age.
