Betancourt's Corner
During this year I introduced my students to Google Apps and tools to enhance their critical thinking and promote learning. I used the SAMR (substitution, augmentation, modification and redefinition) model to guide my students . Because I mostly work with bilingual students this approach works very good because it allowed me to work with them at their own pace and have them work to a higher degree of understanding. This approach works very well in any language and helped my students feel successful because they were able to work in their native language to increase their prior knowledge and build needed content.
The next images show final products from students in Earth Science and Chemistry. In Earth Science, they had to create a classification system to describe the type of rocks and provide examples of those types of rocks. IN chemistry they had to describe the types of reactions and provide definitions, examples and videos of each type. The tools used in these examples include Popplet, Thinglink and Tagul.
