Actors Studio 1 will meet every other day in Room 145. There are 4 sections of Actor's Studio 1: Period 2 A/C, Period 2 B/D, Period 3 B/D, and Period 8 B/D.

This is an introductory course to Acting and Theatre. This class will meet every other day for a single period throughout the year. In this class, students will:

  • Learn drama vocabulary and techniques and put them into practice

  • Increase skills in performance, public speaking, improvisation, and acting in character

  • Be able to read, understand, and analyse dramatic texts and performances

  • Build skills for devising and creating their own scenes and dramatic material

  • Understand how Theatre and Performance can be used socially for self-expression and communication, problem solving, community building, and social commentary.

This is a project and performance based class, which will combine both individual and group work. Throughout the year, students will be expected to cooperate with their peers on creation and performance of work. As part of these projects, all students will perform for their peers, and are expected to be respectful audience members at all times.
