This Career and Technical Education (CTE) content area is designed to explore self, family, and community to meet present and future responsibilities as family and community members. Family and Consumer Sciences Education empowers individuals and families across the lifespan to manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society. Family and Consumer Sciences Education prepares students for success in both postsecondary education and employment. Topics are varied, and may include any of the following units of study; individual growth and life readiness, human development and relationships, apparel and textile production and design, environment design and management, nutrition and wellness, and food systems and production.
