The mission of the Bilingual Program at East High School is to prepare students to master academic skills in both English and Spanish, including the ability to read, write and speak fluently in both languages. Biculturalism is a core value of the program, and as such we strive to instill in our students a pride for their cultural heritage, a respect for other cultures, an open-mindedness about human diversity, and compassion towards all people.
Our mission is to develop active learners who are invested in their education and engaged in their communities. We strive to graduate students who have acquired the social capital they need to move effortlessly between their home (primary) and “mainstream” culture in the United States so that they are able to access and take advantage of every opportunity that is available, or can become available, to them.
