Professional and Education Experience:  I worked as a welder for about twelve years. I was an owner/operator, along with my husband, at FedEx Gound for roughly five years. I owned/operated a licensed childcare business in Rantoul for five years. During that period, I completed an A.S. in Secondary Education from Parkland Community College and a B.A. in Political Science from University of Illinois Springfield where I also minored in Legal Studies and graduated Magna Cum Laude with honors. I am a recipient of the Dewey Award from UIS and have been inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha- National Political Science Honor Society as well as Kappa Delta Pi. I interned for the Governor’s Office of Constituent Affairs in 2019. I completed my M.A. in Political Science from University of Illinois Springfield in 2021. I worked as a Policy Analyst in the Director’s office for the Policy Development, Planning, and Research at the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for roughly a year and a half while completing my master’s program. I worked as a Placement Advisor at Lincoln’s Challenge Academy in 2021-2022. In June of 2022, I returned to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for my permanent job as a Human Services Grants Coordinator (Grant Manager) for the Office of Community Assistance. I work with a network of community action agencies across the state to assist them with operating their LIHEAP and CSBG programs. These programs provide vital assistance to low-income families in crisis across our state. I have recently been promoted to an Executive 1 in the same office.  I have also worked as a licensed substitute teacher in the RCS school district.

Relationship to RCS: I have been a resident of the Village of Rantoul for most of my life. I am an alumnus of Rantoul City Schools, and my children attend as well.  I moved to Rantoul from Southwest Michigan when I was eight years old. I attended Northview Elementary and J.W. Eater Junior High School. Many of my friends lived on base. I also attended Rantoul Township High School. My nineteen-year-old son’s entire education stems from Rantoul City Schools. He graduated from RTHS with one year of college credit from Parkland College. He is a Site Supervisor for the new ballpark and has worked for the Village of Rantoul since he was fourteen. My twelve-year-old son currently attends J.W. Eater Junior High School. He is a 7th grader. I have a vested interest in this community, its students, and the future of our youth.

Personal Statement: Rantoul places a strong investment in its youth. With outstanding youth sports programs, ample parks, playgrounds and outdoor spaces, and a sense of community embedded at its core, this is a beautiful place to live and raise a family. Throughout my life, I have had a love for government processes. The democratic system truly has the most impact at the local level. Choices made on a school board can shape lives in countless ways. The role of a board member is to listen to the needs of the community, be knowledgeable in fiscal activity and economics, and open minded to changing techniques, curriculum, and technology. It is because of these reasons I felt compelled to perform my civic duties as a Rantoul City School Board member.  I want to be a shepherd for the future.
