Maury River Middle School - Athletics

The purpose of athletics at Maury River Middle School is to promote activities that will provide opportunities for boys and girls to develop teamwork, skill development, and self-esteem. All Student-Athletes must at all times positively represent Maury River Middle School. To be considered for participation in MRMS athletics, a student must be in good standing academically and behaviorally.

Sports available at Maury River Middle School? Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball (Boys' & Girls') Cheerleading, Wrestling.


**6th & 7th grade girls - Volleyball open gym for MRMS will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 23rd from 6pm to 7:30 pm. You must have a permission form turned into Coach Camden before you participate. Permission forms are in the main office.


**Reminder to parents - In order for a VHSL Physicians Physical Form to be valid for the 2019-20 School Year it must be dated by a physician after May 1, 2019.

Eighth graders may be invited to participate in activities at Rockbridge County High School which are not offered at Maury River Middle School. Any student that is chosen to participate in JV athletics at RCHS MUST have a VHSL Physical form on file with the RCHS Athletic Director.

Who is eligible to participate?

Any full-time 6th - 8th Grader at Maury River Middle School may participate in sports.

What must I do to participate?

Students are expected to have a signed permission slip on file at Maury River Middle School before they may participate.

Insurance. It is the responsibility of each parent/student to provide their own insurance for each activity. Maury River Middle School is not responsible for individual insurance. Physical Examinations. All decisions concerning physical examinations for middle school age students are the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Students are expected to attend all practices and games unless they have personally notified their coach or sponsor.

As with all students, being a good student has priority.
