eLearning Best Practices

  • Start with what you already know. Don't try something new on the first day.

  • Address student's social and emotional needs by having frequent check-ins and video chats.

  • Reduce the workload by at least half

  • Create opportunities for synchronous meetings

  • Share instruction/teaching asynchronously

  • Deadlines should be very flexible

  • When possible, provide individual feedback to students

  • Create as many offline opportunities as possible

  • Provide very clear instructions.

  • The instruction should be designed to allow students to be self sufficient learners.

  • Parents are support not the teacher. You are the teacher.

  • When designing instruction always remember that students’ schedules and environment are different from the regular classroom.

  • Be aware of how you are dressed and what is behind you when using video chat or recording video
