Congratulations to Dave Loken who was awarded the prestigious Pete Beach Award at the EOSSAA AGM on Friday. Dave has been a long-time volleyball and soccer coach at KSS, has convened numerous EOSSAA and OFSAA Championships for both volleyball and soccer, and was the founding website coordinator for EOSSAA. Congratulations Dave!
Fellow KSS Teachers Kim James and Kyle Compeau presented the award!
Congratulations to Gananoque Secondary School teacher-coach Jane Clark on being awarded the prestigious EOSSAA retirement award on Friday. Jane has been a long-standing coach at GSS, has hosted numerous EOSSAA championships, and has served as GSS's athletic director for more than a decade.
GSS Teacher Chris Wyatt presented Jane with this award.
Congratulations to Scott Buffam who was presented with the prestigious EOSSAA retirement award on Friday. Scott spent most of his career at Renfrew Collegiate before wrapping up his career at Arnprior DHS. He coached volleyball and softball early his career but made his mark in high school hockey capturing 7 UOVHSAA titles and making 4 trips to OFSAA. Scott was instrumental in writing the EOSSAA Hockey regulations and chairing the hockey SAC for many years.
Renfrew Collegiate Athletic Director Jason Wilson presented Scott with the award.
EOSSAA
The Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSAA) is a member association of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA), encompassing volunteer coaches, student athletes, and school administrators. EOSSAA consists of all eligible secondary schools in Eastern Ontario, in the counties of Dundas, Frontenac, Glengarry, Grenville, Lanark, Leeds, Lennox-Addington, Prescott, Renfrew, Russell, and Stormont.
Aims and Objectives
EOSSAA is dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of the educational value of school sport.
To provide leadership on behalf of Local Associations in support of the educational value of school sport;
To conduct EOSSAA secondary school sport Championships which provide incentives for students at the local level to participate in interschool sport, and which create an awareness of the educational benefits of participation;
To promote friendly relationships among the member schools;
To promote fair play and equal opportunities for success in all secondary school competitions within EOSSAA;
To promote gender equity awareness and practices;
To provide services, such as Playing Regulations, Codes of Behaviour, Championship calendar, etc.; for participants, teachers, coaches, administrators and Local Associations to conduct and enhance school sport;
To promote and foster all the desirable qualities to be achieved from competitive sport;
To encourage the recognition of the integral role of school sport in any sport and fitness delivery system.
