Stacey McGregor has been a full-time teacher since 1995 and has been the Head On-Ice Instructor for the Hockey Canada Skills Academy and Head Coach for the Varsity Boys team at St. Joseph’s High School since 2012. He also has been front and centre when it comes to involvement in other youth sports. In fact, Stacey’s been a Head Instructor before in his career, part of a six-year stint with the Arnprior Parks and Recreation Hockey School.
A three-time CIAU Academic All-Canadian with the Varsity McGill Redmen from 1991-1994, McGregor’s playing resume reads like an Ottawa Valley hockey success story. From his time in Bantam with the Ottawa Valley Titans AAA program, Stacey moved on to play for his hometown Arnprior Packers Junior “B” affiliate of the EOJHL, then followed that up for two years with the Smiths Falls Bears of the Central Junior Hockey League.
Beginning in 1990, Stacey has been involved in a number of hockey positions in this area, in either a co-coach, practice coach, assistant coach, or head coaching capacity, and ranging from house league to AAA. He has also contributed regularly, over the years, to on-ice instruction with the Arnprior-McNab Ringette Devils of the NCRRL.
As a teacher, he has taught physical education for over twenty years, and has involved himself in coaching a number of sports, including basketball, volleyball, badminton, cross-country, track and field, soccer, and softball. For thirteen years, Stacey was the co-president of the RCEIAA, the umbrella athletic organization that administers competitive sports for all elementary schools in Renfrew County.
