The Compass began in 1932 as a literary magazine on RUHS campus. The Penpointers editor’s club officially began in the 1936-1937 school year as a team of editors dedicated to editing and publishing the school’s literary magazine. Prior to that, the Penpointers called themselves the Writers’ Club. The Penpointers ran writing contests and events all year, and The Compass publication showcased the best of the best creative writing happening on RUHS campus.
The Spring 2024 volume, back from hiatus, joins nearly nine decades of showcasing creative work on RUHS campus. While the literary magazine has taken on many names over the years, we are so honored to continue the tradition of forming a strong team of student editors to review work from our Sea Hawk writers.
