Example #1
Example #2
Your board display does not need to look exactly like the examples. The questions are there to help guide you on what information is important to provide to show your stages of the process (see bulleted points to the left).
4. Invention Model/Prototype
A physical representation of your invention. It does not have to work, as long as you can explain and demo how it would work. If it is an App, it may be a series of images of the various screens. Prototypes must be low-cost (less than $50). Ideally, they would be made from recycled materials or items found from home.
5. Judging Video
Your video will give you an opportunity to share your project with the judges. See below for options for uploading your video. Click HERE to view the judging rubric to see what they will be looking for.
Students must prepare a video (between 2-6 minutes) which walks the viewer through their process from problem to prototype.
Video CANNOT be edited. The video must be done in one take (camera is continuously running) and no special effects or editing in the video.
If using a cellphone, please have the phone in landscape.
If possible, have your board and prototype in your video.
Place the link/QR code to your video on your display board. You can find free QR generators online (www.tinyurl.com is a great one).
For K-2nd students: There can be permitted use of notecards and/or simple parent prompting (but not interview style). Video must run continuously with no editing or production interruptions. 2-6 minutes in length recommended.
For 3rd-4th students: It is permitted to use notecards but no parent prompting. 4-6 minutes in length recommended.
For 5th-12th students: No notecards or prompting. 4-6 minutes in length recommended.
When you register for the Invention Convention via the Registration Form, be prepared to share your video link as one of the requirements to submit the form.
