Personal Connections

I chose to do my project on The Saskatchewan Film Industry because I have many personal connections to the subject and am passionate about supporting the film industry to be the best it can be.

A few years ago I was interviewed by Wayne Mantyka from CTV while visiting the Production Studios' Open House. I was excited to be on the news talking about the film industry and my future goal to be a film director. I got to experience the wonders of the filmmaking in Saskatchewan. I practiced using a steady-cam, held a Emmy Award and got photos with the "Wolf Cop" production team.

The Saskatchewan Production Studios is located within 3 minutes of my home. I walk by it daily and admire it. I have worked hard to be part of the industry here in Regina already by job shadowing at CTV TV and by taking theatre classes at Globe Theatre.

Both of my grandpas inspired me on this project. My Grandpa Fladager attended the Normal School prior to it being the Production Studios in 1967. My Grandpa Kaiser worked with Minds Eye Pictures to create a children's series called "Its All About Community". He was previously the star of a weekly TV show called "Fisherman Fred".

I have always been a passionate filmmaker. Since I was very young I have been fascinated with the idea of creating films. I am now looking into film schools. My best options are The South Seas Film School in Auckland, New Zealand or the Vancouver Film School. I have not even considered Saskatchewan as an option because of the lack of film industry.
