This month, Mrs. Maull chose Alexis Day’s work! She is in Drawing and Painting 3 and was under the instruction of the temporary teacher, Miss Sheets. The project’s requirements were to create three separate art works, each more abstract than the last, the subject being a personal object that meant something to the students. Alexis chose a stuffed elephant and really broke down all the elements it had to offer to create something new and creative!

Katseye is an upcoming girl group that became popular back in 2024 for K-Pop and their dance challenges on TikTok. Their popularity as a group soared on a polished debut and the diverse members' backgrounds. The names of the six women in the group are Sophia, Lara, Manon, Daniela, Megan and Yoonchae. This group went on a Netflix reality TV show called “Pop Star Academy”, which started to rise and the group became famous. The group is backed by a corporation called Hybe Corporation which brought K-Pop mega artists like BTS, SEVENTEEN and more. Together with the corporation, they sought to create the first multicultural girl group who modeled on the traditional K-Pop framework. Since starting Katseye, the group has stepped on to multiple events and worked with different people in collaborations. Katseye is also known for their incredible fashion as a group. On many occasions, the group has stepped into luxury brand archives and worn pieces from Prada, Hussein Chalayan and early 2000s Balenciaga looks. Unexpectedly, Mannon has taken a leave from the group in February 2026 to focus on her health and well-being. The group has announced their first solo tour across North America and tickets have been selling out within minutes. Despite the group losing a member, I think that this group is the next up-and-coming girl group.

The art world is constantly evolving, and recent trends show an exciting shift toward diversity and technology. Many museums and galleries are highlighting artists from underrepresented communities, giving them a larger platform and bringing fresh perspectives to audiences. This movement is helping redefine what is considered “mainstream” art and encouraging students to explore a wider range of creative voices.
At the same time, digital art is gaining popularity, especially among younger artists. Tools like drawing tablets and design software allow creators to experiment in new ways. Social media platforms have also become important spaces for sharing artwork, building audiences, and even launching careers. Students interested in art now have more opportunities than ever to showcase their work beyond the classroom.
Another growing trend is interactive and immersive art experiences. Exhibits that include virtual reality or audience participation are becoming more common, making art feel more engaging and accessible. These experiences invite viewers to become part of the artwork rather than simply observing it.
Overall, the art scene is becoming more inclusive, innovative, and student-friendly—perfect inspiration for the next generation of artists.

In the world of dance there has been a lot of talk about a comment made by Timothee Chalamet. In a recent interview, Chalamet stated, "I don't want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this any more.”' This comment made the internet go into a spiral, especially in the world of dance.
People started flaming him for this comment, saying that ballet is not dying and people do care about it. It's a documented fact that people do care about ballet, opera, and other fine arts because people are still buying tickets to attend these events. Another reason that Chalamet's comment was controversial is that his mother and grandmother were members of a ballet company. On TikTok, people started posting videos of themselves dancing and making fun of Chalamet. During the Oscars, a famous ballet dancer, Misty Copeland, came and danced right in front of Timothee Chalamet in an obvious way to demonstrate her disagreement with his negative comments.
On the other hand, people are defending Chalamet, stating that what he said during the interview was “taken out of context."

Six-Word Memoirs
Written by Ravenna High School Creative Writing students
February, 2026
Legend has it that Ernest Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” In November 2006, Larry Smith, founder of SMITH Magazine, gave the six-word novel a personal twist by asking his community to describe their lives in exactly six words. The Ravenna High School Creative Writing students were given the challenge of writing six-word memoirs on their first day of class this semester.

The queen sat gracefully in her luxurious, golden throne which shimmered under the intrusive sunlight. Her gaze drifted everywhere–thoughts conspiring imaginary adventures, as the particular midday brought her no interest. A high-ranked attendant entered the room, asking for permission to formally introduce her to a visitor. Princess Ophelia fiddled with her thumbs and tendrils of her long, brunette hair, sharing the same boredom. All plans and duties were taken care of the day prior. The queen seemed eager to meet the stranger, as they could bring intriguing delight. While the two pondered on their thrones, multiple knights surrounded every corner, vigilantly observing. Throughout the country, occurrences of crime increased, along with assassinations of public figures. A loud silence conquered the room as the assistant returned.
“Your Majesty…this is a Court Jester from Valvern,” she said whilst attempting to gently shut the gigantic double doors. Nonetheless, a sound reverberated off the walls. The queen shifted her eyes towards her daughter, perplexed. He stood confidently, his jet black hair slightly covering a white mask which was adorned with jewels, and streaks of red and blue paint. They both exchanged a similar expression, but continued to listen to their assistant, who proceeded to say, “He’s a new addition to the staff; we’ve accommodated him in the quarters downstairs. Due to the bored looks on your faces, I knew that you may fancy a new type of entertainment.”
The queen lifted her chin in consideration and said, “Show me.”
An hour later, the Jester performed his final act. It was simple juggling, with exceptional moves that could only be done by a professional. Ophelia became deeply infatuated with the Jester, never taking her eyes off of him. It turns out that gestures of love floated in the air, unbeknownst to the Queen. Later that day, the princess appeared at the Jester’s chamber to which he shot up from bed, and hurriedly put on his mask.
Her voice, as smooth as mulberry silk, said, “What is your name?”
“Court Jester, Princess Ophelia.”
“No, your real name. I would like to get to know you, as you’re a part of the staff now…” She appeared hesitant and shy, inching closer towards the Jester.
“My name is Darien, Darien…” he paused. “It’s almost time for supper, won’t you eat? I’ve heard that this palace holds the most delicious feasts, every night.”
“Only if you join me,” she held out her hand. The Jester slowly clasped his own around it, until the warmth engulfed the both of them. A bell rang from afar, catching the two off guard. Once they pulled apart, she asked for him to reveal his face. He stopped, and shifted his eyes towards the floor. The princess conjured up a remark to pass the awkwardness, “Well, how else are you going to eat?”
Ophelia paused, eagerly waiting to see his features. The bell rang again, and the mask disappeared–a trick?
The room felt smaller. Ophelia’s heart raced, and she realized that there was a problem. She fell even further in the abyss of love.
“Let’s go now, shall we?” She attempted to hide the excitement. The Jester nodded then left a few minutes later, so as to not create any suspicion. They both had understood their own conflicting feelings, but saw a future. A mysterious one.
Will their love story continue? Find out in the next edition!
