Harry the Dirty Dog

PreK

After attending a professional development session hosted by The STEAM Education Center at WPI, the STEAM Educators chose to complete a traditional, problem-solving maker challenge with our PreK students. After watching the read-aloud of the book, we identified the problem: Harry needs a bath, but runs when it's bath time. Students shared many possible solutions and built prototypes.

Student Solutions:

Put Harry's favorite toys in the tub
Build a gate on the open side
Give Harry a bone while he's in the tub
Make the walls of the tub higher
Have a robotic hand that comes from the bottom of the tub and holds Harry in place
