This is our second year of Milestone Projects, the Capstone project remains the culmination of these projects. As the students can attest, this year came with a few new and welcomed changes. Knowing what was expected of them, and the familiarity of the project and process allowed us time to dive deeper into brainstorming empowering ideas, identifying a problem they connected to, and work toward finding a real world solution.
The ease with which these students navigated the extensive steps of their Capstone project was a joy to watch and experience. One light bulb of an idea can give one a new perspective, a new way of looking at something, an answer to a question or a solution from their own personal experience. A moment of sudden inspiration or revelation was a beautiful thing to witness.
In the entrepreneurial spirit, these students became problem solvers, their ideas are inspiring, I hope they see themselves as change makers, and know their ideas have the power to change the world.
As you are about to hear, the Capstone Projects allowed each student to celebrate their voice and choice. Each student will present an “Ignite Talk” style presentation clicking through a series of slides as they speak. Please follow the lead and do the theater clap, one clap following each students’ talk. We will give them a big round of applause at the end. Following the student talks we will proceed to the Kol-lab for a gallery walk and Q & A to learn more about the students’ Capstone work. Thank you for coming and enjoy the evening ahead.
