Holocaust Memorials
Grade 8
"There is something uniquely human about creating a physical marker to commemorate past events or individuals. If you were to design a memorial to commemorate the Holocaust, what events, people, or ideas would you want it to represent? Take some time to reflect on what you’ve learned about the Holocaust and what you think is most important for you and others to remember."
This assignment in Grade 8 Social Studies provided the perfect opportunity for an interdisciplinary project between the Kol-lab and the humanities department. Students created a plan thinking about how the Holocaust should be remembered and how to convey that message through their design. The resulting memorials were unique and powerful .
