Hello Raven Family,

My name is Shannon Howard and I am the mental health counselor for Rapoport Academy Public School. I am writing to provide you information on how to access counseling support for students participating in remote (at-home) learning.

Counseling support might be considered for a student experiencing:

  • anger/irritability

  • sadness/crying spells

  • withdrawal

  • changes in sleeping or eating patterns

  • difficulty concentrating

  • refusal to complete assignments

Who is eligible for counseling services:

Any Rapoport student grade PK-12.

How are services provided:

Counseling services are provided virtually via Google Meets

Free Internet Options:

While we are not promoting a particular company, here are a few resources that we have come across to help with free internet access:

  • Charter Spectrum - 1-866-279-2466 | This is a 60-day free internet access offer for any student regardless of household income. According to the customer service representative, there is no proof needed. You simply need to request it on behalf of any student in your residence. Please contact the company to set up service as soon as possible as it will take a few days to get the equipment and service set up.

  • Comcast - Found online: https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19 or 855-846-8376 | The 60-Day Free Offer is specifically for families who qualify based on eligibility for public assistance programs (Please see the list attached and found on Comcast’s website). You can access the application online using the website provided or call for assistance. Again, please apply as soon as possible as it takes a few days to get connected.

  • In addition to these, many cell phone providers are offering unlimited minutes for all customers for a limited time. Please contact your provider for more information or to confirm participation in this offer.
