People are trying to make a difference, and we need to help.

One great invention is direct air capture technology. This is a form of carbon dioxide removal that takes carbon (CO2) from still air. The separated CO2 can then be permanently stored underground, or it can be converted into products, which reduces the concentration of carbon in the atmosphere.

In an interview with Miami Commissioner Damian Pardo, he says that Miami is making a boat that goes through the bay and collects trash and debris, called the Scavenger 2000. This is an example of transportation that is also helping to clean our waters.

project drawdown
Project Drawdown's main goal is to help the world stop climate change as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible. They aim to reduce the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They do this by identfying and promoting solutions that will help the world reach "drawdown," the point when greenhouse gases in the atmosphere start to decline and stop rising. They are a non profit organization, and a great way to make an impact is to donate.

Our team has put together bills that we're going to send to the Senate. The main goal of these bills is to get them passed so we can make a change in the transportation industry.
The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. They aim to clean 90% of floating trash in the ocean. Trillions of pieces of plastic pollute our oceans today, and the problem is worsening. This plastic has a devastating impact on marine wildlife and ecosystems. Plastics can persist for many decades, continuously degrading into microplastics. These can be ingested by wildlife and later enter the human food chain. Plastic pollution is a global crisis requiring urgent action.

Electric Trains
Electric trains are also a great solution. Instead of using fuel powered trains electrified tracks allow freight trains to stop burning dirty diesel.

Electric cars
Electric cars are also a solution. Rather that having a gas powered car you can invest in buying an electric one because it doesn't emit carbon. Electric cars are re-chargeable so instead of using gasoline to power it which is bad for the environment you can just plug it in with a special charger.

simple solutions
There are small things you can do to make a big change, here's some options:
Walking/biking more- walking/biking more helps reduce the amount of gases that you are emitting. Walking more also helps bad traffic, and traffic can cause more pollutants to be emitted.
Carpooling- Carpooling is great because it means that less cars are on the road, which means less emissions.
Not ordering same day delivery for shipments- When you order the earliest delivery, there isn't enough time for ships/trucks to reach their full capacity, this means that there would have to be more trucks that are on the road to deliver other people's later deliveries. If you order the latest delivery, it allows for more time that the trucks can use to fill all the way up. It is also more cost-effective.
Electric cars- Electric cars are an amazing way to help our environment. By using energy instead of gasoline to power their cars, they are helping reduce the amount of pollutants that are emitted.
Flying less- If you travel less by plane it will help to improve our carbon footprint.

miami dade county
Miami Dade County is striving to try to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 with "The Climate Action Strategy." There are seven main approaches being taken and one of them is to reduce transportation-related fuel consumption. In an interview with Miami Dade County Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, she also says that there are multiple different actions being taken to try and reach this goal. Some actions include major net-zero plans for the airport and ship port (D, Levine Cava, personal communication, 2025).
At Miami International Airport, (one of the biggest airports in the US)
Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners approved a contract with FPLS that is going to install $547 million in electrical infrastructure upgrades that involve zero-emissions equipment and net-zero backup generators over the next 20 years at MIA.
The airport is progressing with a $130-million project to renovate its entire terminal roof with solar panels by 2030.
MIA is also working on its groundbreaking Sustainability Project at MIA, and because of this, they are saving $3.2 million in electricity and water costs annually!

One of the best things you can do to help the cause is educate. More people need to learn about what's happening to our planet, and if they learn the ways to reduce it, we can make a difference. Everyone deserves the right to learn about the cause, and even if you are a young person, you can still make an impact. After all, "Young people are our only hope"-Daniella Levine Cava.
