SATELLITE at NC State University- SATELLITE is a five day STEM outreach and leadership development program with the goal of exposing high school sophomores across underserved communities in North Carolina to STEM careers and postsecondary educational opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of STEM activities including, but not limited to: a field trip to the Museum of Natural Sciences, an egg drop competition, and workshops in paper science engineering, textiles, and agriculture and life sciences led by NC State faculty and students. Our program this year will run from May 11th through the 15th (note that this is during the school-year and absences will count). Our application requires two letters of recommendation and a few short essays pertaining to the student’s interest in STEM. Due to the nature of the program, we do not consider a student’s academic success when reviewing applications. We are looking only for a student’s desire to maximize their experience at SATELLITE. Program cost is $30, but a limited number of need-based scholarships are available. The application is due February 28, 2020. Click HERE for more information and to apply.
