Requirements: SECU requires all applicants to follow the formal application process set by the SECU Foundation. All graduating seniors meeting the stated criteria will be eligible for consideration. The criteria have been designed to give the Scholarship Selection Committee flexibility in awarding the scholarship. The committee will recognize an individual in the senior graduating class deserving of an opportunity to attend college and will select recipient(s) without regard to race, sex, color, creed, religious preference, age, national origin or disability. The Scholarship Selection Committee will use the following criteria to award the SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship to a recipient who:
1. Is either an SECU member or is eligible for membership through a parent/guardian. Student or
their parent/guardian must be a member at the time of application.*****Must now complete verification form FIRST before receiving application*****
2. Is a senior at a North Carolina public high school who has been accepted to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System, which the student plans to attend.
3. Is a US citizen and a resident of North Carolina.
4. Identifies a financial need as determined by submission of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
5. Best exemplifies the “People Helping People” philosophy of State Employees’ Credit Union, and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement.
6. Demonstrates scholastic achievement with a maintained 2.5 or higher unweighted grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and may be deserving of financial aid.
7. Will use the scholarship to pay for full-time undergraduate student tuition and fees.
8. Agrees to continue as a full-time student in good standing with the same university for up to eight (8) consecutive fall/spring semesters payable at $1,250 per semester.
9. Is not a Board Director, employee, or immediate family member of an employee of State Employees’ Credit Union or the SECU Foundation.

Requirements: 1) Student-Athlete will have participated at the varsity level for 2 years, in 2 different sports, OR, at the Varsity level for 4 years in one sport. 2) Student-Athlete will have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA after 7 semesters and be committed to a 2 year or 4 year college. 3) While parent activity in the club is encouraged, a scholarship will not be awarded or denied based solely on parent involvement. However, in the event of a tie, parental or guardian involvement will be/can be used in deciding the tie. Parental or guardian involvement is defined as having been an active THS Bulldog Booster Club member for at least 2 years, and, as participating in one major fundraising event each year. Working in concessions more than 5 times throughout the year, or, for the majority of one season. For example, work every home soccer game or work 2 home game concessions during football, soccer (mens and womens) basketball and baseball. 4) Student-Athlete should have participated in the phone book drive for 2 years. 5) Student-Athlete will be in good standing with teachers as well as coaches and community. 6) The Scholarship Committee (THS) will submit applications meeting above criteria to the Booster Club, or, appointed replacement from the Board for a final decision. Up to four (4) scholarships will be awarded.
