How to Apply to College in 4 steps:


  1. Choose the college(s) that you would like to apply to and go to their website to determine if you apply on their website or if you apply through an organization like CFNC or the Common App.


If you are applying to a school in North Carolina, you can most likely apply through www.cfnc.org. You can also request your transcript to be sent through CFNC too! Click here to go to CFNC.org.

There are several schools in NC that use the Common App for their applications. These are some of the schools that use The Common App for their applications. To apply to these schools go to: www.commonapp.org/

  1. Send your official high school transcript to the colleges you apply to:


If you are applying to a 2 or 4 year college in North Carolina, you should send your transcript through www.cfnc.org . Once you go to the website and sign in (Create an account if you do not have one), then you click on Application Hub, then Transcript Manager to search for colleges to send your transcript to.

If you are applying to a school outside of North Carolina, you will need to request your transcript be sent through Randolph County Schools scriborder. To request an official high school transcript to be sent to an out of state college/university, go HERE.


3. Send your official SAT and ACT scores to 4 year colleges (many 4 year colleges are waiving this requirement for seniors graduating in 2021).


To send your official SAT scores to colleges, you must go to the collegeboard website, log on to your student account you used to register for the SAT, and choose send your scores. It costs $12 per school. Go to Collegeboard to send your SAT scores.


To send your official ACT scores to college, you must go to the ACT student website, log on to your student account ( or create one if you haven't), and select schools to send your scores. It costs $13 per school. Go to ACTStudent.org to send your ACT scores.



4. Apply for Financial Aid to College!


Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete your FAFSA in order to be eligible for Financial Aid at your college. You and one of your parents will need an FSA ID in order to sign your FAFSA electronically. You should create your FSA ID BEFORE you complete your FAFSA. Click HERE to be directed to the FSA ID website.


Please contact student services if you would like help completing your FAFSA with your senior. You will need your tax information from the previous year that you filed. We are happy to help and even schedule a google meet if we are unable to meet with you in person!
