What follows: first professional things and then some fun stuffnot that the research hasn't been fun. Click on underlined text to explore further.

After a BA in economics at American University I joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in Paraguay, where I worked on water issues. Then it was off to graduate school (MS and PhD) at the University of Arizona to study both economics and water management. In late 1971 while at the U of A I began working part-time at an office of what is now called the Rocky Mountain Research Station, part of the research branch of the U.S. Forest Service. I moved locations, but stayed with the Research Station until 2022. For me, it was a dream "job." I spent many happy years studying interesting topics and working with great people, all the while trying to support good public land management. Topics I worked on are listed to the left. At the various pages linked there you'll find lists of (and links to) some of the resulting publications. I have long been been affiliated with Colorado State University, where I am happy to still hang my hat.

How I managed to study so many different topics.
