Dear Families,

We hope that you and your families are well and are finding joy and laughter wherever and whenever you can!

We are updating you now about changes to our schedule and some resources that are available to you as we move into our 3rd full week of online learning.

Schedule Changes

  • This week - live lessons begin at 8:45 am or later.

  • After Pesach - Live lessons will begin at 9:00 am or later.

Online Learning Platforms and Programs

    • Google Classroom: 4th graders have been successfully using this platform for one week. 3rd grade parents should have received emails regarding signing on; assignments will begin later this week. After Pesach, we will introduce the program to grades K, 1, and 2. Technology teacher Andy Greenspan has been instrumental in supporting this initiative, and we appreciate his efforts and expertise in implementing it across the grade levels.

    • Dreambox for Math - Dreambox is an adaptive online math program. A huge thank you to math coach Anna Greenberg for the launch of Dreambox in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades over the past two weeks. Many of you have let us know how much your children are enjoying this program and we believe it will serve as an important tool in supporting math learning during this time.

    • Epic! Library - This is an online library with a vast number of books available to students. Teachers will be able to assign books to individual students according to reading level. Students are also able to choose books on their own. 1st and 2nd grade families will be receiving information about this program early this week. We will send out information regarding this program to other grade level families post-Pesach.

Resources for Review and Enrichment

    • Archived Lessons These lessons are archived by grade and subject area in case your child misses a lesson or you would like to have your child review a particular lesson. Keep in mind that we do not record live Zoom lessons; all the archived lessons have been pre-recorded by teachers. We have included worksheets that connect to those lessons.

    • Resources for Enrichment- This is an initial list of resources we believe are high quality and worthwhile. We will continue to add to this site in the weeks ahead. Thank you to the GS and JS faculty members who have been researching the vast array of resources currently available and curating a list of the best ones for our students!

Pesach Break

  • Pesach break - We hope this will be a time for families and faculty to rejuvenate after this initial period of off-site, online learning. We do expect all students to be reading regularly throughout the course of the break in both Hebrew and English. Please keep in mind, however, that there that will be no "vacation" assignments -packets or otherwise- given over the Pesach break. If you are looking for activities during Hol Hamoed - please check out the resources on the website.

As always, feel free to reach out to any one of us with questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Ruth, Hedva, Lori, Nani, Jordan, Lillian, Natasha, and Adrienne
The ECC/LS Leadership Team
