Prof. Ramamrutham has made a significant contribution in the field of education and educating children of New Delhi. At Delhi Tamil Education Association (D.T.E.A), he has volunteered over 20 years, serving in the Governing body of D.T.E.A, at various positions including Chairman of Academic Committee, Chairman of Building Committee, Chairman of Academic Selection Committee, and Vice President of the Governing body.

He was responsible in the construction of the school buildings in Motibagh, R.K.Puram and Janakpuri. He was also responsible for the development of the school laboratories. At times of emergency when there was a shortage of senior postgraduate teachers, Prof. Ramamrutham volunteered his time, educating the children in Physics and Mathematics. He has also very close to the teachers and students in all the seven schools The students often meet him for solution.

Prof. Ramamrutham offered his services as an engineer, volunteering in the constructions of Temples and school buildings of DTEA, and foyer and auditorium constructions of the Delhi Tamil Sangam. He was the president of Delhi Tamil Sangam in the years of 1984 to 1988. He offered substantial community services by his continuous voluntary work in the development of the seven schools.
