OUR SCHOOL

Since 2022, we have been part of the network of Estonian state upper secondary schools. Our school is located in Rakvere and only teaches upper secondary students, with study levels called G1, G2, and G3 (grades 10, 11 and 12 respectively).

We are building a school where:

• subjects are connected in meaningful ways;

• students can focus on knowledge and skills important for their future;

• diversity is valued, and everyone feels supported and cared for.
  
  

Teachers work together across subjects so students can see how different areas of knowledge are linked. We want our community to stay curious, creative, cooperative, and community-minded.

Upper secondary school should give students a strong foundation for lifelong growth and happiness. Learning should also give students the chance to contribute to their community. By noticing opportunities for improvement and carrying out positive projects, graduates will be more likely to return and reinvest in their hometown.

This way of thinking also supports an entrepreneurial mindset: learning to bring about positive change in society while caring for the environment and all forms of life—not just people.

OUR SCHOOL BUILDING

In 2019, an architectural competition was held for the design of Rakvere State Upper Secondary School. The winning design, called “Park Life”, was created by architects Maarja Kask, Ralf Lõoke, and Martin McLean from Salto architectural bureau.

The school building, designed for 540 students and 60 staff members, opened in January 2023 at Lai 36. The cornerstone was laid on March 17, 2022. Construction was delayed due to material shortages caused by the war in Ukraine, so the opening was moved from September 2022 to January 2023.

The building has a pavilion-like design with a slim and transparent central part, creating a visual link between the city square and the nearby park. The bow-tie-shaped structure has become a new landmark for Rakvere.
