RATIFYING THE AD VALOREM TAX RATE OF $1.112 PER $100 VALUATION IN RAINS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, A RATE THAT WILL RESULT IN AN INCREASE OF 10.87 PERCENT IN MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS TAX REVENUE FOR THE DISTRICT FOR THE CURRENT YEAR AS COMPARED TO THE PRECEDING YEAR WHICH IS AN ADDITIONAL $1,739,132.

State Law Requires "property tax increase" language on ballot
In compliance with a new state law, ballot propositions must include the total funding increase. Voters are only going to be paying 6.04% of the 10.87 percent revenue increase. The other 4.83% of the revenue increase comes from the sales tax monies previously sent to Austin.
