If you've never heard of this acronym, it stands for "Community Safety and Security Programme". To go more in depth, it is an action plan jointly drawn up by C2E members, CERT, Grassroots Leaders, residents and the Home Team in Singapore, aimed at tackling community issues and problems affecting the safety and security need of the local neighbourhood. The purpose of such action plans, or as we call them, 'projects', is to draw the community into looking after its own safety and security matters through self-help and mutual support.

To break the project down into more digestible segments, we followed a series of steps!
Step 1: Before we started anything, we had to first plan! Without planning, so many things could go wrong. Of course, we had to decide what we were going to do.
Step 2: Yep, more planning. Creation of the timeline, delegation of jobs, working out the details of initiatives, etc etc. Of course, communication is key, so we created a google folder to archive all our ongoing initiatives. Doing so was crucial in ensuring that none of the documents were misplaced and by cataloguing everything neatly, things were accessible, easy to find, and most importantly, organised. We also created a Whatsapp group chat for fast and simple communication, which proved very useful for sending out reminders. Last but not least, with busy schedules, time management was an extremely important aspect, one that we managed to me by setting goals and assigning work carefully.
Step 3: After the tedious journey of planning, we embarked on another long road and prepared to carry out all our initiatives.
Throughout this entire project, we followed some steps which helped us complete this project successfully.
Brainstorming: After we received our task to promote the use of SGSecure and raise awareness about it, we decided to have a brainstorming session where we offered ideas on initiatives to carry out in the school to achieve our objective.
Planning and Timeline: After we had decided on several initiatives which we felt were the most impactful, we started planning. We submitted several drafts of our proposal to finalise the details of our initiatives. We also had to delegate roles to each of our members, so that everyone would have a part to play. After the fine details had been worked out, we created a timeline of our initiatives such that we could stay on task and make sure that our project is completed on time.
Execution of Initiatives: Finally, it was time for us to carry out our initiatives. We gathered the necessary logistics and made sure everything was ready to be presented to the school, and ensured that our initiatives ran smoothly and that everyone had an enjoyable and enriching learning experience about SGSecure.
Reflections: Something no project is complete without. After our entire journey of working on this project, we took the time to reflect on the skills we have gained and the knowledge we have learnt, and we will continue to apply these skills throughout our NP journey.
