We found that the majority of students were in 1st year, followed by 3rd year, 2nd year, 4th year, and 5th year or higher. Overall, this graph shows the diversity of responses and how we were able to capture a diverse sample of the UTM community.

We found that the majority of students were in life sciences (e.g., biology, psychology) followed by social sciences (e.g., economics, anthropology, geography, political science, sociology), other, humanities (languages, philosophy, education), more than one program, physical sciences (e.g., chemistry, physics), and math and/or computer sciences. Overall, this figure shows our diverse sample of the UTM community.

We found that the majority of students were 18 years of age, followed by 20, 19, 21, 22, 17, 24+, 23, 24, and 16. Overall, we were able to capture a wide range of student ages.

We found that the majority of students identified as female, followed by male, and other (non-binary, transgender, and not listed/prefer not to answer). Overall, we captured a diverse sample of students at UTM.
Question from the survey: Educational attainment of parents: what is the highest level of formal education of your most highly educated parent?
We found that the majority of students have parents who completed a bachelor's degree (e.g., BA, BSc), followed by a high school diploma, master's, college certificate (diploma or degree), some college (but did not earn a certificate, diploma, or degree), professional degree (e.g., medicine, law, pharmacy, dentistry, etc.), other (prefer not to answer or are unsure), high school incomplete, and skilled trades. Overall, we captured a diverse sample.

We found that the majority of students reported not identifying as indigenous or an aboriginal person from Turtle Island/North America.
Question from the survey: Which of the following terms best describe your racial or ethnic identity?
We found that the majority of students reported best describing their racial identity as white, followed by other (mixed or not listed), Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Arab, African, Caribbean, West Asian (Iranian, Afghan, etc.), and Latin American.
