Johanna is currently a senior at North Quincy High School. You may catch them half asleep in class or talking so much that it’s basically their full-time job. If not in class, you will typically see them in the music wing for choir, acapella, band (formerly), etc. Johanna loves music and actually falls asleep most nights listening to music by accident. Her favorite artists are Frank Ocean, Tate Mcrae, Tyler the Creator, and Clairo. They have participated in athletics such as tennis (formerly) and worked with Quincy Track Club to help kids. In their free time, they are either in Boston (which is too often), spending time with their dogs Floof and Moka, or watching and rating films. Johanna is very passionate about films and the media (basically meaning they spend half their time debating whether a movie was genius or garbage). Despite all of this, Johanna’s dream job is making bank as a doctor and helping others (or winning the lottery and becoming rich). One last thing about Johanna is their favorite food is Chipotle and their favorite beverage is matcha or peach iced tea. She can not wait to contribute all of her ideas to the Raider Roundup!
Madison (or Maddie, as she prefers) is a senior at NQHS who is enrolled in the film program. She is incredibly passionate about anything related to design and the media. Outside of school, Maddie works with children. Her patience has grown ever since she started investing in babysitting! She has always loved fashion and often doodles her own designs (even if she doesn’t have a clue about sewing). Maddie takes many of her inspirations from music artists such as Beabadoobee, Tyler the Creator, and Wave to Earth. Some of her favorite movies/shows include Sinners, Soul Eater, Nana, Death Note, and Severance. Spending time in the city is one of her favorite past times, which means spending her money too. Maddie is not very frugal, but she is very generous. If she could give a dollar to every person in the world, she’d give each person 5 instead. In her future, Maddie aspires to be a graphic designer or a video editor for companies, celebrities, commercials, magazines, and anything that includes making something look unique. If not that, maybe she’ll luck out and simply be rich and famous…
Rose is a gender-questioning science enthusiast and is fascinated by the science behind media bias and political and social standpoints. Journalism is a tiny bit out of her comfort zone---as she plans to major in Biology/Biotech and work professionally on studies that have to do with mRNA/gene science. As outgoing as she would seem (she gets along well with others and has no problem directing a small group if need be), she’s actually kind of a nerd and has a fair-sized group of niche friends. She’s quite niche herself, as evidenced by her secret love for creating and sharing fan-art of the games Undertale and Deltarune on various social media platforms. She also plays Minecraft sometimes if she has time, but can usually be found at home, attempting to ward off the Procrastination Monster!!! She likes walking around Castle Island and, among many other restaurants, enjoys dining out at 16c with her father.
Ana is currently a senior at NQHS. She is often described as kind hearted and introverted. Ana was formally involved in the True Crime club, the Pre-med club, and the Red Cross club. She volunteers to help around the school for upcoming events. Her favorite classes that she’s taken at North were Criminal Justice, Biology, and Forensics. She wants to make the most of her senior year by attending as many activities as she can. Her plans after high school are to attend a four year college and study to become a pharmacist. She wants to be able to help and cure people in her desired career. One thing she likes about NQ is the community. She is so grateful for her friends and teachers here at NQHS. She is proud that she has made it this far throughout high school. In the future, Ana hopes to be successful and travel the world. Outside of school, Ana enjoys hanging out with friends, reading a good book, listening to music, and of course, sleeping. She hopes to make a positive impact in and out of school.
Kiara is a hardworking student and a senior at North Quincy High School. She is an active member and one of the presidents of SADD. She has also been a part of the DOVE Program, where she became a trained peer educator with an expertise in healthy relationships. Outside of school, she enjoys shopping on Newbury Street and spending time with friends, along with attending concerts. So far, she has attended three concerts where she saw Billie Eilish, Finneas, and The Weeknd.
Nico is a senior at North Quincy High School. As secretary of the NQ Debate & Speech Club, she loves learning about new things as well as making sure the information she shares with others is accurate and correct - that's why she joined the Raider Roundup staff this year. Her favorite websites include Wikipedia and the Internet Archive. Although she greatly enjoys liberal arts subjects like history and writing, she finds the greatest joy in chemistry; after graduation, she plans to pursue a career in cosmetic chemistry.
Her hobbies outside of school include art, makeup, dying her hair, and playing guitar. When it comes to music, she’s hardly picky-- she’s open to any song recommendations from any genre. Her favorite genres in particular are R&B, bossa nova, and hyperpop. Her other hobbies include baking, cooking, and making tea. As a creative and spontaneous person, she also doesn’t have a consistent favorite color-- it depends entirely on the day! Ask her what color she feels like today, and she’ll tell you what and why.
Lin is a current senior who never goes home. As a member of ROTC and captain of the QNQ colorguard, they will often roam around the ROTC and band wings after school. They also work as a staff editor on the school’s Literary Magazine, president of the DECA chapter, and event coordinator of the Green Student Movement. When school isn’t in session, they love working on their projects. Lin’s collection of niche skills vary from sewing to crocheting to scrapbooking and more! In addition, they hold a passion for fashion and intricate hairstyles. They’ve been caught braiding rather than doing work one too many times… Most days, Lin will experiment new styles with her clothes and hair while growing her overflowing closet. A new addition to their hobbies is the bass guitar! While they have owned one for quite some time now, Lin hasn’t quite found the time to practice consistently. Nevertheless, they work hard and dedicate themselves to any task given to them! Lin also has a guilty pleasure for mystery/death game shows and video games. They’re thrilled for senior year and excited to pour their passion into the Raider Roundup!
Vivian is a senior at North Quincy High School. She has taken an interest in journalism due to her passion for writing and hopes to use it as an opportunity to improve her skills. At school, you may see her walking through the halls before homeroom with an AirPod in her ear or sitting somewhere rushing to finish her homework after deciding she could save it for the next day (which usually turns out to not be the best idea). Outside of school, Vivian enjoys spending time hanging out with friends, often debating on where to grab food or simply sitting and chatting together. In her free time, she also likes to read, write, and play games. Writing has always been a favorite pastime, as it allows her to explore new ideas and create stories that she could share with her close friends. When she isn't working on any of those hobbies, Vivian is usually experimenting with something new. She enjoys the process of discovering new interests–whether it be learning to solve a rubik’s cube, doodling, or practicing how to take a good photo.
Heidi is a senior at North Quincy High School. She loves law and writing. She's taken part in the soccer team of North Quincy, soccer clubs outside of school, and other activities that challenge her academic growth. Over the past year Heidi has interned at law offices, where she shadowed attorneys, observed court proceedings and assisted with office work. These experiences give her insight and opportunities to connect in the legal settings and for connections later on in the future.
Outside of school Heidi enjoys working on her personal fitness and growth, with consistent routines, focused on strength and endurance.
An interesting fact about Heidi is that she is a member of the Boston Athenaeum, one of the oldest libraries in the country. She often spends time there reading, studying, and soaking in the historic atmosphere, which inspires her as she continues to shape her academic and career path.
Samarpreet (or Samar - pronounced Summer, for short) is new to this school and is really looking forward to meeting people and finding her place here. Starting fresh can feel a little overwhelming, but she’s excited about the chance to make new friends and build memories that she’ll look back on later. She’s the type of person who enjoys connecting with others and sharing experiences, so she’s hoping this school becomes a place where she can do just that.
One of the things she loves most is traveling. For her, it’s not just about seeing new places but about the memories that come with them—trying new things, meeting new people, and creating stories to carry with her. Whether it’s a big trip or something simple, she sees every experience as a chance to grow and enjoy life.
Family is also a huge part of who she is. Spending time with them always brings her joy, and her dog is like another member of the family who never fails to brighten her day. With her love for adventure, her easygoing personality, and her focus on making the most of every moment, she’s excited to start this new chapter and see where it takes her.
Owen is a senior at North Quincy High School and is excited to begin writing for North Quincy’s Raider Roundup! He’s been writing similar content since he was in elementary school and started his high school writing with the Literary Magazine club. Owen is also one of Ms. Boudreau’s teacher assistants and has been volunteering at Thomas Crane Library since his Sophomore year. After high school, Owen hopes to go to college and pursue a career in nursing. In his free time he enjoys going out with his family and friends, reading, and listening to music. When his family goes out, their go-to spot for dinner is Dagu Rice Noodle for their spicy broths and crispy chicken. One of Owen’s favorite books is The Awakening by Kate Chopin because of its themes of self development and self importance. In terms of music, some of Owen’s favorite artists are Red Velvet and Kali Uchis. There’s going to be a lot going on in school, and he’s excited to inform everyone about these events through the Raider Roundup!
Jennifer is currently a senior at North Quincy High School. Her favorite subjects are history and art. She is a member of the Sewing Club as the social media coordinator. She likes to volunteer with helping decorate the school for rallies. For college, she is looking forward to majoring in graphic design. Afterschool, Jennifer enjoys taking naps. If she's not napping, she likes to draw or play games on her phone. Some of her hobbies include makeup, listening to music, drawing, and sleeping. At home, she has a chubby orange cat who always goes up to her for food. During her free time, Jennifer likes to draw on her IPad making random sketches. On the weekends she loves to waste her money buying blind boxes and other unnecessary things. Despite her blind box addiction, Jennifer enjoys buying food and spending time with her friends. She has an obsession with buying lip products like Rom&nd lip tints which she barely uses. Her current obsession is Chiikawa with her favorite character being Momonga. Despite all this, she can’t wait to be part of Raider Roundup!
Lydia is currently a senior at North Quincy High School. She is pursuing a major in education in college because she loves to teach young students about her favorite subjects: history and English! Lydia is currently involved in various clubs such as Interior Design, Scrapbooking, and Youth Tutoring. She enjoys playing tennis and being one of the captains of the North Quincy Girls Tennis Team. During her spare time, she loves to indulge herself in playing video games, baking, scrapbooking, hanging out with friends, and shopping! A fun fact about Lydia is that she has a slight addiction to purchasing an abundance of blind boxes and plushies for herself and her friends. She is also a huge foodie, and you can often find her saving a huge portion of her meal to save room for a scrumptious dessert. Although one thing is a classic for Lydia, she constantly orders herself a passionfruit tea from any bubble tea shop! Lydia is exhilarated to be a part of this year’s Raider Roundup!
If you hear laughter in the hallways, it’s probably Luiza, a current junior at North Quincy High School. A lover of puns, fun facts, and cheesy pick up lines, Luiza is seen working with many different organizations within her community. She is part of many clubs such as Debate Club, Youth & Government Club and Academic Decathlon, but is also part of the North Quincy’s Cheer and Tennis teams. Alongside her academic activities she is an active member of the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene where she helps out in the kids' church, attends mission trips, and is trying out for their district's Bible Quizzing this year. Although she may be seen with her Ape plushy Monkmonk, Luiza’s favorite animal is the African Rain Toad because she loves how they look tough on the outside but in reality they are softies known for hiding in little burrows. Similarly, Luiza tends to have an unhappy or tired face when appearing in the halls, however you can always feel free to bother her with fun facts or silly jokes, she is always down to learn or have a laugh.
Bekah is currently a junior here at North Quincy. You might find her by her locker, where she is either grabbing an abundance of snacks or attempting to shove her luggage of clothing and two 10lb text books into a half a foot wide locker. When they aren't stored in her locker, Bekah brings her books upstate with her in her travels to her house in Maine every other weekend. Nonetheless, she is a determined student and has gained many friendships throughout her first year being a proud raider! She is a prominent member in the Youth and Government club at NQ and in her free time enjoys playing, coaching, and refereeing girls soccer. Outside of school she spends a variety of her time at the local Panera for no reason at all besides the enjoyment of her friends' company in the mornings and evenings. She has a serious addiction to Diet Coke and will always have a gallon in hand provided by Panera’s local “sip club”. To relax, Bekah finds herself binging comical series and movies like White Chicks, Gilmore Girls, Modern Family, and One Tree Hill being some of her favorites. She is thrilled to contribute to the Raider Roundup this year!
Katherine (Kk) is a part of the North Quincy High School class of 2027. She is a member of the varsity girl’s soccer, sailing, and ski teams. In addition to her athletic involvement, Kk joined the NQ Drama Club her sophomore year and played the role of “Beth” in their production of Little Women. Alcott’s story is one of her favorites, alongside Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and the films “Sabrina” and “When Harry Met Sally.” When she’s not at school, you may find her at home studying or cooking. And she’d be the first to admit that if she’s out somewhere, it’s probably a restaurant with her friends. Kk is the latest Raider from a legacy of NQ attendees spanning over six decades in her family. She enjoys finding new music to listen to and loves recommendations! Her top two artists are Hozier and Mac Miller. Kk has an interest in writing which has led her to take Journalism this year, but she does not have definite plans for her future. One goal she has for herself as a writer is to make an impact on others by sharing her truth.
Therese is an 11th grader at North Quincy High School. Her favorite elective so far has been Creative Writing. She likes listening to music while she does her homework (the music part — not the homework). Outside of school, she loves to read, draw, spend time with her family, and code on Scratch, among some other things. When she's with her family, she likes it when they play in the backyard, with board games, or with video games all together. She has three younger siblings. She is introverted. She is Catholic. Her favorite season is Winter — she loves the snow. She really loves the wind, too, and the sky. She loves the songs of the birds that fly through it as well. If you find her, you will almost always find her with a book — a story of magic, adventure, an unlikely future, a possible past, things gone slightly awry, disasters averted through determination, or endless other kinds. When she draws, she usually draws a thousand little girls of different emotions and expressions throughout the margins of her agenda, and, sometimes, her schoolwork.
Sophia is a junior here at North Quincy with a big enthusiasm for the school lunches. During her high school experience, Sophia was a casual reader of the Raider Roundup and then chose to join Journalism to learn about the ins and outs of managing a news website like the Raider Roundup. Outside of class hours, Sophia participates in Key Club, Green Student Movement, and Asian Culture Club. In her free time, Sophia enjoys skateboarding around the city (if you see her trip and fall, that most definitely was not her). Although Sophia isn’t cool enough to do sick tricks on her decade-old Penny Board, she sure can go fast! With her skateboard, Sophia visits stores like bb.q, sweetFrog, Tous les Jours, and B-Cafe. Despite Sophia’s love for restaurant food, her all-time favorite meal is a simple plate of stir-fried udon noodles made in fifteen minutes. While in the comfort of her own home, Sophia enjoys dabbling in different things like cooking, reading, video editing, watching movies, and maintaining her 1170-day Duolingo streak.
