For identical labels: Proceed to Step 2.
For merged labels: Open the Google Sheet you want to merge from.
Make sure the first row in your sheet contains column names, such as Name, Address, City State, Zip Code etc. These column names will be used as *|merge fields|* in your label template.
To be able to merge, you need to have at least one row of data under your column names.
Start the Avery Label Merge add-on by clicking Extensions > Avery Label Merge > Start.
This will open the Avery Label Merge dialog box.
For identical labels: Enter your label text directly into the label template.
For merged labels: Insert *|merge fields|* into your label template by clicking in the desired location within the template, selecting a field from the Merge Field drop-down and clicking Add.
Repeat this step for all required *|merge fields|*.
*|Merge fields|* are the column names found in the first row of data in your Google Sheet.
Click the Label / Envelope field to display a list of label templates.
Select a label template from the list and click Apply.
You can search by label code, size, description and more.
Format your text or *|merge fields|* as required.
You can change the font, color, size, etc. of the *|merge fields|* in your label template in the same way you would regular text. You can further customize your label template by adding images.
For identical labels: Proceed to Step 8.
For merged labels: Click Filter Rows.
This will create a new column in your sheet called Filter Rows to Merge. Following the mail merge, the empty cells in the Filter Rows to Merge column are populated with the date/time the merge took place. To merge these rows again, you will need to clear/delete the date/time values.
For identical labels: Click Identical Labels to create your labels.
For merged labels: Click Merge Labels to begin the label merge process.
This will create a Google Doc containing your labels. You will also have the option to download your labels in PDF format.
In your newly created label document, click the Print icon to print your merged labels.
Make sure you have the correct printer settings.
