University of Al-Qadisiyah was founded in December of the year 1988 (1988) in two colleges: Education, Management and Economics. In the second academic year, the Faculty of Arts was opened,

The College of Education is one of the first colleges that opened its doors to receive students, and that was the beginning of the academic year (1988-1989). The college started with three departments, namely:Arabic, English, and Mathematics. In its second academic year (1989-1990), new scientific departments were opened, namely, history, chemistry, life sciences, and physical education, and in (1994) the Department of Physics was opened, while the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences was opened since the establishment of the college and was received by students in the year ( 2001-2002) In (2012) the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education was opened.

The College of Mother’s Education is the parent of the university’s colleges, from which the College of Physical Education, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Science, Muthanna Education and Muthanna Sciences was established and has the merit in establishing the Wasit College of Education.

It also opened its doors to receive students of the initial evening studies for the academic year (1994-1995) and includes four sections, namely the Arabic language, English language, mathematics and history, and opened other sections including the Department of Life Sciences, Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences for the initial evening studies later.

The College of Education now includes nine scientific departments, including humanity, Arabic language, English language, history, educational and psychological sciences, Quranic sciences and Islamic education, and the scientific departments are mathematics, chemistry, physics and life sciences.
