Warm Up: Social Media Interaction
Brainstorm all the different ways you communicate with your friends?
Face to face?
Online?
On your phone?
On the computer?
Create a list with students' ideas and when finished, circle those that involve digital media or media devices (text messaging, online chatting, video chatting, etc.).
Ask students who they think the circled examples are different from the other ones. Explain that the circled ideas involved digital mdeia, which is informaotin that comes to use through the internet, often through a tablet, smartphone or laptop.
Today we're going to be talking about online social interaction and online gaming, and ways you can keep them fun and positive.
Let's start by watching a video and taking some notes to answer the following questions:
What interactions do you notice in the video?
Who talks to whom?
What do they say?
Overall, would you say that the social interactions were mostly fun and positive?
Or mostly negative?
Why?
Did you notice what Cody was doing?

Today we just talked about social interaction in an online game. But social interaction can take place in many different ways when you're online, such as through messaging, on social media, or in comments on a website. It's important to remember that you're comments and interactions have an impact on others.
