Google Classroom: This site houses all the PowerPoints we use in class as well as the websites the students access while in class.
Reading Playground (rgr.fun): This site is used in correlation to our Phonics curriculum, Really Great Reading. Students spend the week learning a new topic or skill with the teacher and then apply what they have learned to the given "assessment games" on this site. It also has a live activity feature that allows the teacher to see how the students are doing in class! If there are any errors occurring, the lesson can be retaught then and there for understanding!
Xtra math: This is a site used to increase math fluency in addition and subtraction. Students work towards increasing the number of addition and subtraction problems given in an allotted amount of time. Math fluency is very important in second grade! This is something that should be completed at home 2-3 times a week if you do not have flash cards!
Splashlearn: I can assign math "games" that cover what we are working on in class. Students think it is a fun game, without realizing it is assessing their knowledge of materials covered. This is a great resource to use at home if you are looking to work on math facts or activities with a child who may need a little extra review!
Raz-kids and Epic: These sites have various leveled readers and comprehension tests at your child's assigned reading level. These sites are used during guided reading and for independent work. I am able to assess how your child is doing based on their answers and time spent reading. We do use STAR (not listed), which includes a diagnostic test (taken 3 times a year) where we are able to see how your child is doing in phonics, vocabulary, sight words, and comprehension throughout the school year. This helps us determine your child's reading level and if we need to readjust reading groups throughout the school year.
**These logins will be shared with your child at the beginning of the school year. If you would like more information to see how to use these sites at home, please let me know!
