Echo Park Acupuncture opened in 2011, only nine years after the very first community clinic Working Class Acupuncture was established in Portland, OR.
Community Acupuncture's intent is to be affordable and accessible to more people. Contrary to how it's practiced in Asia, acupuncture has become exclusive to those who have high cash flow or premium insurance coverage.
Community acupuncture clinics are set up to be practiced in group settings. This clinic can accommodate up to three patients in the large room and each is attended to effectively and quietly on comfortable zero gravity recliners. We also have a massage table for those who prefer to lie down. Oftentimes couples, family members and friends come in together.
Acupuncture does not work if one doesn't get enough treatments. The process is not linear as in allopathic Western medicine that's primarily based on pharmaceuticals. It is cumulative. Each treatment builds from the previous one received on a timely schedule. Image an upward spiral for that effect. That is the nature of this profound medicine.
It's been extremely gratifying to serve our diverse community for almost 15 years and plan to do so for many more years to come.
