I wrote, directed, and marched in my own marching show!
From September to December, I arranged Auld Lang Syne for a woodwind ensemble with a cello solo in the beginning and the end. I also wrote drill for said ensemble to march. Once we got back from break, I found nine other people who wanted to be a part of my show and we started learning. Mr. Spitler put down the curtains in the drama room and found a lighting crew. The day of, we practiced every chance we got to scale the show to the drama room.
We performed at 6 pm on February first. That night made the past five months worth all of the stress.
The lyrics of Auld Lang Syne say, "Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind, we'll share a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne (times long past)"
In my last marching season, I felt myself relating to this song.
Even if I forget the names of all the friends I have, I will still celebrate the times we had together and the person I was able to become because of our experiences.
I am so lucky to have friends who agreed to help me with a project as crazy as this. Thank you all so much!
I took a piano and flute duet and arranged it for a woodwind quartet with cello. I am so proud of how it turned out!
This project took five months, and I cannot count how many times I wanted to quit. I am so glad I did not give up!
