Thinking about the process and product of your Capstone, reflect upon what you are most proud of and what you might do differently if you were to complete a similar project in the future.
I am most proud of the outcome of my performance and how many hearts it touched. This process became very stressful as we were nearing the show day but I am very proud with how my group pulled through and the turnout of the performance. I think one thing I would have done differently is splitting up the time better. I would have given us more time to work with our guitarist and more time for the guitarist to get a grip on the music.
Explain how your life experiences are reflected through your project.
My life expereinces are strongly reflected through my project because it simply is about my life and my experience of high school. These songs ion my capstone were an outlet while I was going through hard times so I have a connection with these lyrics, songs and meanings.
Thinking about the Extra-curricular hours you completed, reflect upon what you learned through the experiences and/or how you have been impacted as an artist?
I have learned hundreds of things through these many years in the arts. I have learned self-confidence but also the ability to express myself through art. It has also taught me that you don'y always have to be perfect in everything. There is always time to grow and especially in theatre it is okay to make mistakes.
How is your life positively impacted by the arts?
My life has been completly alterted by the arts and my involvment in all of high school. I have met my best friends through the arts but I have also met myself. It has helped me understand myself better and who I want to be in the future. I've created a passion like no other that I plan on pursing the rest of my life. The arts have changed the directory of my life and have guided me to so many amazing opportunites but have also taught me determination, grit and empathy. Most importantly, the arts have taught me how to be a leader and speak up for myself and the things I care about.
How do you plan to include artistic experiences in your future after high school?
I plan on minoring in Musical Theatre at ASU after high school while continuing to audtion for shows around me. I plan to also incorparte all of the leadership qualities I've learned into my normal life.
What advice would you give an incoming freshmen about studying the arts to help them make the most of their experiences while in high school?
My biggest peice of advice for anyone is to do everything you can! Don't let nerves or anything else get in your way of audiotning for a show, signing up for a class or simply trying something new. You never know what is out there for you. Never give up before you've even tried. The arts will transform your life in such a beautiful way and you cant give up on that simply because it can get hard or scary. Do it all! Do whats scary.
