Admiration
What is it?
With the help of my longtime Pit instructor, Connor Sullivan, I have composed a marimba-vibraphone duet entitled 'Admiration'. Originally, I had intended for this to be a much longer piece with two different endings. Each ending was meant to demonstrate the different paths of emotional turmoil that someone would feel as a result of admiring someone so much that you put them on a pedestal. I meant to write this piece to represent two important people in my life, both of whom I admired, but one let me down and left me broken, whereas the other picked me back up. I changed my mind because I didn't want to dwell on my past, and writing this piece solely about myself and the people who saved me was therapeutic, and I think the better choice.
Now, the piece represents my journey through high school with the assistance of those who have had a heavy influence on me throughout my life:
The people I admire.
