Driving/Parking Procedures
Student parking is provided to the left of the driveway area at the main campus. All student cars are to be parked in their assigned parking spot. Parking hangers must be displayed. Driving on school property is a privilege that may be revoked.
The following guidelines, approved by the Board of Education of Queen Anne’s County, shall apply to students of KIHS.
Any vehicle parked on school property must be properly registered with KIHS and display a current parking permit
Students who maintain a 2.0 GPA may park on school property during school hours. The cost of the permit is $20.00.
Students are not to park in a Fire Zone.
Students are not to transport individuals in the back of a pick-up truck.
Speed limit in the parking lot and driveways is limited to 15 mph.
All traffic signs and markings should be observed.
Extreme caution should be exercised when entering or leaving the school grounds.
Students are not permitted to go to vehicles during the school day unless permission is obtained from an administrator.
Students are not to loiter in their cars before or after school hours.
Students must park on the students’ parking lot only.
Violations of the above guidelines may result in suspension of parking privileges, towing of the student’s vehicle, or further disciplinary action. Students will be responsible for towing fees. Violations that may result in the loss of parking privileges or further disciplinary action include:
Excessive tardiness and/or absenteeism
Multiple out-of-school suspensions
Leaving school during school hours without permission.
Transferring a permit to another student’s car
Students not maintaining a 2.0 GPA at the end of each progress reporting period

YOU ARE PARKING AT YOUR OWN RISK ON SCHOOL GROUNDS.
AUTOMOBILE SEARCH – Automobiles parked on the school premises or in the school parking lot are subject to search when officials have reason to believe weapons, drugs, or objects prohibited by school policy or state law are contained therein. This includes the use of drug-detecting dogs.
