Enrollment Information
The Queens College School For Math, Science, And Technology, a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School, is a Pre-K through 8th grade New York City Public School. We are not a screened or zoned school. Our school (PS 499Q) is a partnership of families, educators, and the Queens College Community. You will find that innovative curricula and teaching methods are explored here and the college faculty, undergraduates, and graduate students are found in the classrooms, observing or participating in instruction. The school occupies a building on the Queens College Campus.
Our school is open to all children residing in the borough of Queens.
Admissions
There is no longer a school-based application process for this school. Admissions to this school is as follows:
For students entering grades Pre-K, Kindergarten or 6th Grade (currently in the 5th grade) in September and who are eligible to participate in a New York City Department of Education admissions process, apply by visiting www.myschools.nyc (opens in a new tab)

Do you take any factors into account for admissions such as grades, test scores, or attendance?
No. The enrollment process for all grades follow standard NYCDOE enrollment practices (opens in a new tab). The only requirement for enrollment is that the child reside in the NYC borough of Queens.
Do you have school tours?
At this time we do not have any in person or virtual tours.
Is busing available?
Busing is provided in accordance with NYC Office of Pupil Transportation regulations. Busing is available to students from grades K-6. Students in 7th and 8th grade can apply to receive Metro Cards. OPT has assigned a number of bus stops to our school. If a student is offered a seat in PS/IS 499 a list of available bus stops will be provided to the parent.
When can my child be called off the wait-list?

In New York City, children begin pre-K in the calendar year they turn four. During the pre-K application period (opens in a new tab), all NYC residents with children of this age can apply to PRE-K one of two ways:
Online with MySchools (opens in a new tab). Apply online in English, Arabic, Bengali/Bangla, Chinese, Haitian Creole, French, Korean, Russian, Spanish, or Urdu.
By phone at 718-935-2009. Interpretation services are available in more than 200 languages for over-the-phone applications. You can ask questions and request information about admissions in any language when you call.

In New York City, children enter kindergarten in the fall of the calendar year they turn five. During the Kindergarten application period (opens in a new tab), all NYC residents with children of this age can apply to kindergarten one of two ways:

In New York City, most students apply to middle school during their fifth grade year. Apply by:
