Compulsory Additional Classes
The compulsory and recommended classes for the Secondary School Performance Stream for 2024 are classes that supplement the dancers training by enhancing their safe dance practice and supporting them to reach their potential.
Dance Spin - Compulsory for White Team members ** NEW
It is compulsory for all dancers placed in the White level groups to register for a 'Dance Spin' class. This class will be designed to supplement the cardiovascular needs of the complex and high intensity choreography that this level is required to achieve. The instructor will work closely with the Dance Department to design a program that aligns with the Eisteddfod Season. Registration fees are included in the White level Eisteddfod Dance Fees.
Technique Class - Compulsory for all Performance Stream Members
The class time for Eisteddfod Group and Dance Troupe is dedicated to learning and refining routines. While students in the Performance Stream are expected to have already achieved a suitable level of technique, it remains crucial for them to consistently attend a mandatory Technique class. This ensures ongoing development of their dance strength and helps prevent injuries.
For Secondary students placed in the Eisteddfod team or a Dance Troupe, attending a Technique class is compulsory. Students are eligible for discount of $380.00 off the registration fees of the technique class. Accepted Technique classes encompass Secondary Technique and RAD Ballet classes at Pymble.
Students are recommended to do their technique training through the Pymble Dance Program to ensure the repertoire of skills developed matches the technique development plan of the Pymble Dance Program.
Exemptions
Students in Year 11 and 12 Elective Dance are exempt from the compulsory Technique Class as it is covered during academic class time.
Year 12 Eisteddfod students (non-Elective students) are required to register in Technique but are offered a casual attendance plan where they are only required to attend 70% of the yearly lessons. This will allow Year 12 to opt out of attending when they have heavy assessment periods.
Hip Hop Crew members
Onstage Class - Recommended
The Eisteddfod and Troupe classes are focused on encouraging students to excel in their style through the acquisition of competition routines. For Secondary students, it's advisable to enrol in classes beyond just the Eisteddfod or Troupe level at the College. This approach guarantees an enhancement in choreography learning and retention techniques, as well as exposure to diverse teaching approaches and dance styles. Additionally, it ensures that their fundamental skills are consistently reinforced under the expert guidance of our Pymble Dance staff.
