Mrs. Phillips,
Teacher Librarian

Mrs. Phillips got her degree in English and Single Subject teaching credential from Cal State Fullerton. She started her career in education as a Language Arts teacher at Esperanza High School, teaching, 9th, 11th and 12th grade LA classes in 1998. After two years, she was given the opportunity to split her day, 1/2 time teaching LA and 1/2 time working in the library. Well, she loved the library and went back to school to get her Master's degree in Library and Information Science and a K-12 Library Media Services Credential from San Jose State University. After two years of a split schedule, she became the full-time librarian at EHS.

In 2005, Mrs. Phillips and her husband decided to move to Tucson, Arizona. Pretty quickly, she got a job at a great high school as their librarian. Things were going great and then they got better when Mrs. Phillips had a baby. She and her family stayed in Arizona for a while longer but then decided to move back to California to be closer to family. It was perfect timing since the librarian at YLHS was retiring. Since starting at YLHS, Mrs. Phillips added one more daughter to her family and is continuing to make improvements where she can to the YLHS library.  In her free time, Mrs. Phillips loves to spend time with her little family and read (of course!) mostly by way of audiobook.

Mrs. Phillips is never too busy to help with anything you need whether student, staff, parent or community member.

In the 2023-2024 school year, this is Mrs. Phillips'
10th year at Yorba Linda High School
17th year in PYLUSD
20th year in School Libraries
and 22st year in Education!
