In order for Val Tech students to participate in an approved internship that aligns with our mission through a productive and professional work environment, the work-based learning site should meet the following guidelines:
Provide at least 150 hours of non-paid, work-based learning
Provide meaningful career-based projects and tasks where they can apply and/or learn new skills
Projects, duties, and responsibilities follow safety precautions (OSHA), and hosts abide by federal and state child labor laws, equal opportunity laws
Located within Orange County and not based out of a home
Internship supervisor be a non-family member and able to complete a Livescan background check facilitated by North Orange County ROP (NOCROP)
Provide mentorship for the student throughout their internship experience
Provide flexible hours for the student intern to attend in-person CPI classes (2.5 hours) every other week
Allow for the summer CPI class instructor to make student observations in order to provide feedback on growth in career ready practices
Val Tech Student: Submit Form: Val Tech Pre-internship Information
Val Tech Student: Submit Form: Val Tech Internship Host Approval
Val Tech Staff: Review potential internship site requirements and verify with student.
NOCROP Staff: Contact internship host site to verify internship site requirements and begin Training Agreement with internship host.
Internship Host: Complete and submit the digital Joint Venture Training Agreement form provided by NOCROP.
Internship Host: Site supervisor at internship site will complete Livescan background check through NOCROP.
NOCROP Staff: Complete Training Agreement for Board approval and notify internship host and Val Tech when process has been completed.
Val Tech Student & Internship Host: Determine internship schedule with consideration to the provided summer CPI class schedule. Hours during the summer will be entered and verified through the Career Pathway Internship class.
