Stop Motion Studio is an app that can be installed on Chromebooks. The benefits of using this app is that it allows for all the basic tools to create a stop motion video, and students can easily save the video directly into their Google Drives.
When you first open Stop Motion Studio, your scene may appear upside down or backwards (as shown at left) due to the mirroring of the camera. Before you being taking pictures, you can adjust the settings in the Stop Motion Studio App to make sure your scene and any text elements appear as you intend them to. (see below)
Before you start taking pictures, click the camera filters button (1), select rotate (2) and then flip vertical (3). This will allow you to set up your scene facing you as seen in the image at right. The camera will capture the flipped image shown above.
This is the most basic tool for students to use to film their movie. The students can record one audio track on their movie. They cannot use a green screen, add music, nor edit the video using this tool. Students will need to make sure to select their Google Drive when saving.

This tool provides everything the tool above does, except the ability to record audio directly onto the video. However, students can add music, delete and duplicate frames, and trim the video. Movies are automatically saved to students' Google Drives.
