I am so excited to have our 4th and 5th grade combination class this year. I student taught in a K/1 combo and in a 3/4 combo, so I have those combination class experiences from the past. I have been teaching 4th grade at La Mariposa since the school first opened in 2002. Before that, I taught first and third grades at Tierra Linda. I was also one of the 4th grade DLA teachers during the 2020-21 school year. I have been preparing for the combination class since June, and I am looking forward to the experience.
I am a highly involved teacher. While at La Mariposa, I have served on our School Site Committee, our School Site Leadership Team, and even served various roles on our PTA board. At the district level, I have served on numerous committees and over the past few years have been a 4th grade level lead for the district. I have coached our school's CAO Superquiz Team in the past two competitions as well as coached our Battle of the Books Team. I also used to be the advisor for our student government (now known as House Leaders) and did that for 15 years. I love to be involved in our school community. However, this year my focus is is on my combination class, so I will not be serving on district level committees or taking on new volunteer roles. I will remain our school's Battle of the Books Coach.
My husband is a math teacher at Camarillo High School, and we live here in Camarillo. We have two college-age daughters, Shea and Kaitlyn. We have a Labrador named Pepper and a Goldendoodle named Daisy. There is a good chance you will see me around town and at local sporting events. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. The Roxy movie theater is my favorite place to watch movies, and I greatly enjoy dining out at Topper's, Cheesecake Factory, Urbane Cafe, and Yolanda's. I also enjoy Starbucks, but while my friends are all having coffee, I'm enjoying hot chocolate. I get massages at Massage Envy and treat myself to getting my nails done at Lisa's Nails here in Camarillo.
