Announcements:  

1. Beginning Band instruction is offered on the following instruments:  Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone and Baritone.  Students with previous music experience who wish to learn a more challenging band instrument should contact Miss Copsey.  Beginning students will spend the first week and a half learning about the different band instrument options and picking which instrument students want to learn.  Students may request to borrow a school district instrument (the Google Request link will be posted during the 2nd week of classes).  Students may also choose to rent, borrow, or buy an instrument on their own if they prefer.  Instrument options from the school district include: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Baritone.  Students should bring their instrument and music binder to class every day, once we have instruments.  

2. All band students should bring their instrument,  music, and a charged Chromebook to school every day they have class.

3. Students should drop their instrument off at the band room before school (the Band Room will be open at 8:05) and pick it up after school (band students are expected to practice at least 2x per week at home to improve their skills).

MVS Band Performances - Spring 2026

3/11/26 - Intermediate Band Solo/Ensemble Concert in the MVS Gym

Report time 6:00 PM. Attire - Formal (White shirt, black pants/skirt, black shoes).  Students will perform at 6:30 PM in the gym.  Families are asked to bring a plate of goodies to share after the concert.

3/31/26 - Pep Rally (During School) - Int./Adv. Band students perform

4/1/26 - Advanced Band Solo/Ensemble Concert in the MVS Gym

Welcome to the Monte Vista Music Program!  

Basic Class Information:   Click on Band Classes or General Music Classes in the Navigation Bar (upper right) for more info on the various music classes offered at Monte Vista.

All digital assignments and links to necessary resources will be posted in Google Classroom.   

Updated grades for turned in assignments will be available via ParentConnect/Student Connect.  Additional information and feedback will be attached to returned assignments in Google Classroom (students may see comments on returned assignments on Google Classroom by clicking the "Classwork" tab and then selecting "View My Work").   Students may also email me by using their student PVSD Gmail account.

Please check out the important information below regarding absences.

Students who are absent will need to go to the Classwork Tab in Google Classroom, find the current week we are in and look at the Agenda slide for the day as well as posted assignments for the week.  Any links to instructional videos will be posted in the Agenda slides or directly attached to the assignment for that day.

About Me

This is my seventeenth year teaching music at Monte Vista and I have been teaching instrumental music in PVSD since 1999.  I play more than a dozen instruments, but I have more performing experience on woodwind instruments (I have been playing the flute since I was 10 years old).  I also enjoy gardening, hiking and reading.  I am excited to work with the talented musicians at this school to build a high-quality music program.  Go Toros!
