Announcements:  

1. Beginning Band instruction is offered on the following instruments:  Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone and Baritone.  Students with previous music experience who wish to learn a more challenging band instrument should contact Miss Copsey. 

2. Band students should bring their instrument and music to school every day they have class.

3. Students should drop their instrument off at the band room before school (the Band Room will be open at 8:05) and pick it up after school (band students are expected to practice at least 2x per week at home to improve their skills).

MVS Band Performances - 2024-2025 (Tentative Calendar)

12/7/24 - MVS Winter Concert - All Band Students.  Attire: MVS Band T-shirt and black pants. Report time: 9:45 AM.  Location:  Camarillo Community Center Park (1605 East Burnley, Camarillo 93010).  Concert starts at 10:00 AM.  Audience members should bring lawn chairs or blankets.  The performance will be on the grass.

12/9/24 and 12/11/24 - After School Marching Practices @ PVSEA (700 Temple Ave) - Intermediate & Advanced Band.  Time: 4:00-5:15 PM.  Students must attend at least one practice in order to participate in the Camarillo Christmas Parade.   Students should bring a their instrument and wear comfortable shoes and a jacket.

12/14/24 - Camarillo Christmas Parade - Intermediate & Advanced Band.  Attire: MVS Band T-shirt, black pants, and comfortable shoes. Time: 9:00 AM - 11:15 AM.  Report Location: Corner of Temple and Landen.  Ending Location: Monte Vista Middle School.  Note - A parent/guardian must pick up their student at MVS and check out with their band director.

MARCH 2025 - SCSBOA Band Festival at Rancho Campana - Intermediate & Advanced Band.  Additional details - TBA.

4/29/25 - MVS Recruitment Tour to our elementary feeder schools.  Advanced Band + students at rank of Staff Sergeant.  Attire: MVS Band T-shirt, black pants.  Additional details TBA.

5/9/25 - MVS Spring Concert - All Band Students Perform.  Report time - 6:30 PM in the Band Room.  Performance starts at 7 PM in the MVS Gym.  Attire: Formal Black & White.

5/28/25 - MVS Open House - All Band Students Perform.  Attire: MVS Band T-shirt, black pants.   Additional details TBA.

6/12/25 - MVS 8th Grade Promotion (pre-ceremony performance) - MVS Intermediate & Advanced Band.  Additional details TBA.

Welcome to the Monte Vista Music Program!  

Basic Class Information:   Click on Band Classes or General Music Classes in the Navigation Bar (upper right) for more info on the various music classes offered at Monte Vista.

All digital assignments, links to necessary resources, and Zoom class links (DLA), will be posted in Google Classroom.   

Updated grades for turned in assignments will be available via ParentConnect/Student Connect.  Additional information and feedback will be attached to returned assignments in Google Classroom (students may see comments on returned assignments on Google Classroom by clicking the "Classwork" tab and then selecting "View My Work").   Students may also email me by using their student PVSD Gmail account.

Please check out the important information below regarding absences.

Students who are absent will need to go to the Classwork Tab in Google Classroom, find the current week we are in and look at the Agenda slide for the day as well as posted assignments for the week.  Any links to instructional videos will be posted in the Agenda slides or directly attached to the assignment for that day.

About Me

This is my seventeenth year teaching music at Monte Vista and I have been teaching instrumental music in PVSD since 1999.  I play more than a dozen instruments, but I have more performing experience on woodwind instruments (I have been playing the flute since I was 10 years old).  I also enjoy gardening, hiking and reading.  I am excited to work with the talented musicians at this school to build a high-quality music program.  Go Toros!
