Independent Study
For planned absences of 3 or more days, request an Independent Study Contract from the Attendance Technician or Principal (at least 3 weeks in advance of absence)
The principal will review the reason and the student’s records before approval
Independent study does not fully replace classroom instruction; non-illness absences are discouraged
For illness or emergencies, independent study work may be picked up from the office or sent home upon return
Once work is completed and submitted, absences will be adjusted.
NOTES:
Students MAY NOT exceed 15 days of independent study total for the school year
Students with IEPs will need an IEP meeting to determine appropriate supports during any independent study of 3 or more days. Please plan ahead to allow time for a meeting to be held (at least 3 weeks in advance of absence)
