Thoughts about this school year...
An interview with Principal Borchard.
Thank you, Principal Borchard for being exactly who you are!
This year, our school has the privilege to be taught coding by the CSI team! These people come to our school 3 days a week to teach all of the kids in our school coding! So far, they have taught middle school how to make self portraits on Sketchpad (https://sketch.io/sketchpad/), a website where you can create anything you want!
Movie Night was on September 15th and the kids and parents had a blast! They watched the movie "Super Mario Bros Movie". They watched comfortably as they ate snacks and enjoyed the movie.
Go to "Our Community" for photos for Movie Night.
Ms. Perry's "Teach You Science" is based on the song "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Go to "We are Santa Rosa Tech" to see Mrs. Perry's video!

Peer Tutoring!
At SRTMS, the middle schoolers are contributing in peer tutoring the elementary kids. Our wonderful peer tutors are taking time from their lunch and homeroom to make this possible! This is an excellent opportunity for them to understand how to teach younger kids and for the elementary kids to have the ability to interact with those older than them.
Thank you to all of our peer tutors!
Parents got to see their kids school work during Back to School Night. Teachers talked to the parents what they are going to do in the future during this school year. Also, NO KIDS ALLOWED!
Spotlights!

Mexican Independence Month
It was Mexican Independence Month where we celebrated the day when Father Hidalgo called for Mexico's liberation from Spain. This month was celebrated with fiestas or parties, along with a plentiful amount of food and music. These celebrations gave everyone joy! See Our Community for more information.
The clubs are back! Students are excited and can't wait to be apart of one. Check out Our Community to learn more.

School. We all have to attend it. While some kids might think that 6-and-a-half hours is a lengthy enough typical school day, others might disagree. ReadWorks' Time to Think covers students and officials debate on whether or not to lengthen the school day hours. Some officials might say, "Kids need more time to learn, and the only way to achieve that is to lengthen the school day." Also, according to the article, they say, "Teachers can be a little more creative." Students might disagree, saying that this leaves less time for afterschool activities. Although, the students do get perks, such as a longer recess and a longer lunchtime at certain places. What do you think? Do you think school days should be longer, shorter, or are they fine as is?
